The European Commission conditionally recommended the status of a candidate for full membership in the European Union for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city administration of the City of Sarajevo decided to welcome this long-awaited move with a symbolic act of displaying the flag of the EU on the façade of the famous City Hall.
“Granting the candidate status recommendation is an offer from the European side to BiH and the people of BiH. We do it for the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it comes with high expectations. The political elite must make it a reality,” European Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi said earlier on Wednesday.
