The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo has upheld the acquittal of former Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Zora Dujmovic on charges of abuse of office, Detektor reports.
The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo confirmed that the appeal by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office was rejected as unfounded, thereby upholding the July 2023 verdict of the Sarajevo Municipal Court.
In the initial ruling, Dujmovic was acquitted of charges that, between June 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016, in her capacity as a public official and as the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, she knowingly neglected to determine whether four individuals met the requirements for advisor positions, instead signing appointment decisions following interviews with the candidates.
According to the indictment, the individuals appointed to these positions did not meet the criteria established by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Federation's internal organization regulations.
In issuing the preliminary verdict, the Court noted that, upon evaluating the evidence, it did not find the subjective element of the criminal offense and intent beyond a reasonable doubt.
In late August, during the appeals session, the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office proposed either overturning the verdict and returning the case for retrial or amending the decision, while the Defense suggested rejecting the appeal.
No further appeals are allowed against this verdict.
