Hundreds gathered on Monday in a peaceful walk in Sarajevo downtown in support of the victims of Russian invasion of Ukraine, conveying the message: 'Stop the war, now!'.
The event was organised by the Association of witnesses and victims of genocide and the Movement of mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa enclaves. Among the attendees were also some politicians including SDA party leader Bakir Izetbegovic and Bosnia Presidency Chairman Sefik Dzaferovic.
“We know what genocide is, stop whatever is happening in Ukraine now,” said Munira Subasic, the head of the Movement of mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa enclaves.
Citizens walked down the main streets of the Bosnian capital, carrying the banners that read ‘Stop war, save Mariupol’, ‘Stop the massacre in Mariupol’, ‘Stop the war now!’, ‘Stop killing children in Azovstal’.
Kada Hotic, a Srebrenica mother, called on the Ukrainians to fight and persist, and she asked the Russian mothers to not let their sons die or “kill their own people.”
