As Karic said, the leaders of all major parties in the City Council, Nermin Niksic (Social Democratic Party – SDP), Bakir Izetbegovic (Democratic Action Party – SDA), Zeljko Komsic (Democratic Front – DF), Elmedin Konakovic (People and Justice – NIP) and Predrag Kojovic (Our Party), had previously supported the erection of a memorial plaque at Kazani, but the City never did it.

She tweeted that she was determined to make this happen by the end of her term in office, after meeting with the Vice President of Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity, Milan Dunovic.

“I am determined that a memorial plaque to innocent victims will be erected during my term. Today, I talked about this topic with Milan Dunovic, Vice President of FBiH, who promised support in the realization of this promise. The victims deserve it,” she said.

During the siege of Sarajevo, civilians, mostly Serbs and Croats, were brought to Kazan on Trebevic, and then thrown into the pit. The number of people killed on Kazan has not been officially determined yet. After the war, the remains of 23 victims were exhumed on several occasions from the pit, 15 of which were identified.

According to the Missing Persons Institute (MPI), five victims were female and ten male, aged 27 to 66. Two victims were Ukrainian, two Croat, one Bosniak and ten Serb.
