Police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry arrested five Ukrainians at the Sarajevo neighbourhood Ilidza for kidnapping a Syrian citizen.

The Ilidza Police Department was informed on Thursday around 3:40 pm that several people physically attacked a man at the roundabout in Pejton settlement, who was then forced into a van and headed in the direction of Blazuj.

Police officers then found the Ford van in question in a self-service car wash and a man, D.D., a citizen of Ukraine, who can be linked to the event.

Not long after, in Plandiste Street, police officers tried to stop a motor vehicle with persons of interest. The driver refused to stop and continued driving in the direction of the Bosna River spring. Police officers found the car at the Bosna River picnic area, while the suspects continued their escape on foot.

Sarajevo Canton’s Prosecutor qualified the act as Unlawful Deprivation of Liberty and arrested Y.L. (2005), Y.H. (2003), O.I. (1985), D.D. (2004) and A.M. (2005), all from Ukraine, due to the suspicion of committing this crime.

Previously, police officers located a facility where a man, A.E.A. from Syria, was illegally detained.

Accompanied by police officers, he was transferred to Sarajevo University Hospital for a medical examination, where he was diagnosed with minor physical injuries. Police officers searched the house and found a firearm – a pistol.
