“According to this valid law that was imposed, the imposition of which we did not support as a party, of course, we will participate because anything else would be counterproductive and only a possibility of deepening the crisis and giving up in advance. SDS cannot afford that. No matter what the election rules are, we believe that these and some other rules do not ensure the integrity of the election process,” the party leader, Milan Milicevic, said on Wednesday.
He stated that more transparent elections and more control of the process have not been achieved.
Earlier, the leader of the Socialist Party (SP), Petar Djokic, stated that his party would go to the elections in Brcko according to the imposed electoral law, which was passed by High Representative Christian Schmidt.
Even though the Republika Srpska (RS) Government called on members of local administrations in the RS to submit their resignations, local communities such as Prnjavor and Gradiska asked the CEC BiH to approve the appointment of new members to local election commissions.
CEC BiH confirmed the appointment of new members of the election commissions at the request of the city administrations in which the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) cadres are in power.
Everything happened at the May 3 session, when the CEC BiH approved the decision of the Gradiska City Assembly to appoint Natasa Savic as a member of the Gradisko City Election Commission, and the approval of the appointment of new members of the City Election Commission was requested by the Prnjavor City Assembly, which the CEC also approved.
The ruling coalition in the RS, led by the SNSD, should make a decision in the coming days about applying for participation in the elections on October 6.
