President of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), Milan Milicevic, said that, due to the closure of the SDS's bank account and the obstructed financial transactions resulting from US sanctions, the party has decided to send its employees to the Employment Bureau to secure a certain portion of their personal income as provided by law.
“In order not to lose their right to benefits they can claim through a certain percentage of personal income at the labor office, paid taxes, and contributions, the workers have been given termination agreements so they can register with the bureau to avoid losing that right because there are legal deadlines for registration,” Milicevic told Srna.
He expects that during this interim period, while they are registered at the bureau, the issue of their funding through legally defined means will be resolved, which the party is entitled to through local and entity budgets from councillors and MPs, as this money was used to pay the workers’ personal incomes.
Milicevic stated that there is no other way to pay personal income except through an account.
“So that's the reason why it's like this, and as for the difference in salary, because the personal income at the bureau is lower than the regular one, we will try to reimburse them in another way”, said Milicevic.
The SDS account was closed on March 29th. Since 2004, the SDS has been on the blacklist of the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
