The President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, awarded Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic with the Order of Republika Srpska on a ribbon, recognizing him as a "true friend" of the entity. The ceremony took place on a symbolic date, marking an important milestone in the relations between Serbia and the RS.
Dodik reflected on the special relationship between the RS and Serbia, highlighting the 2006 agreement on special relations signed on this very day.
“The Serbian people had the right to that agreement but were prevented from achieving it until 2006. Milos Vucevic played a crucial role in organizing the All-Serb Congress and the declaration we adopted. That declaration is now being challenged, but I believe it is a stronger document than the Dayton Agreement, as there is no will to uphold Dayton in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Dodik stated. He emphasized the ongoing cooperation between Serbia and the RS, praising Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s leadership: “As someone who has been a high-ranking official in Republika Srpska for many years, I can say that the best cooperation between Serbia and Republika Srpska has occurred since Vucic came to power.”
Dodik also commented on the Serbian President’s recent speech at the United Nations, referring to it as the work of a “master in the political sense.” He expressed gratitude for Serbia’s support in various projects, including the construction of a school in Ada and a kindergarten in Srbac, which Serbia funded. “I feel excitement whenever Serbia is involved. I strive for peace, and those who don't love their people are in the wrong,” Dodik added.
In his acceptance speech, Prime Minister Vucevic expressed his surprise and honour at receiving such a prestigious recognition. “As a high school student, I watched the formation of Republika Srpska and awaited news from Dayton. I never dreamed I would one day receive such an honour,” Vucevic said.
He emphasized the natural bond between Serbia and Republika Srpska, stating that the two share a common future.
“As long as Vucic leads the country, Serbia will continue to support Republika Srpska. We will work on the Belgrade-Banja Luka highway, and we are ready to discuss the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway as well as the Trebinje airport project. All of this is a sign of Serbia's support for its people in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Vucevic said.
The ceremony was attended by ministers from Republika Srpska's government, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nenad Stevandic, the President of the SNSD City Board, Vlado Djajic, and SNSD's candidate for the Mayor of Banja Luka, Nikola Sobot.
