During Tuesday’s hearing at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to extend the custody for 60 days to the suspended President of the BiH Court, Ranko Debevec, and the former director of Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA), Osman Mehmedagic, the public heard some shocking details.

Namely, explaining the proposal for the extension of detention, acting prosecutor Bojana Jolovic pointed out that 60 documents for wiretapping were destroyed.

She stated that everything was destroyed in the house of an employee of the Court. And that Ranko Debevec was the one who gave the order to do just that. Jolovic stated that Debevec called an employee of the Court of BiH, while in custody, to bring out of his office the Book of Records containing secret information.

“The testimony of the witness Trifko Buha, an OSA employee, confirms that, as the head of the operation, he was not familiar with the measures of wiretapping judges, nor did he ever sign any orders,” said Jolovic.

Continuing her explanation, she pointed out that the witnesses confirmed that close to 60 warrants were issued in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to OSA, for the implementation of wiretapping measures.

“The orders were not kept at the Court, but were taken to the private house of an employee of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On Debevec’s orders, she took the documents marked ‘confidential’. So, they were taken to a private house and eventually destroyed, without oversight,” the Prosecutor stated.

Jolovic asked why someone would destroy 60 orders if they were legal?

She recalled that Debevec had given the defense attorney a cell phone. She then pointed out that if he was released, he could commit many other crimes.

Ranko Debevec also addressed the Judicial Council. He said that he was charged with questioning the husband of his secretary, Jasna Kulin, but that he had nothing to do with him.

“I want my human rights to be respected. I'm not an influential person, now I can only have everyone run away from me. I am asking you to stop the agony with detention and to set injunctions against me,” Debevec said.

Ranko Debevec and Osman Mehmedagic “Osmica” were arrested on December 18, 2023. They are suspected of having committed crimes of abuse of office by illegally wiretapping judges of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and officials of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the implementation of actions related to the cases of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the Court of BiH referring to the year 2020.

It is also important to note that recently two police officers from the Vojkovici Penitentiary were suspended over unauthorized contact with the detained Osman Mehmedagic.
