Shoes lined up the Sarajevo streets in honour of Sarajevans who died during the siege

The installation was made within project "Memory Trail 11 541..." which the Sarajevo Memorial Center is implementing in cooperation with the City of Sarajevo.

The Sarajevo Memorial Center invited all citizens to join the project and donate shoes that symbolize the murdered residents of the besieged Sarajevo.

The implementation of the project lasts from March 5 to April 5, within which the installation of 11,541 pairs of shoes is planned.

"All residents of Sarajevo Canton, as well as the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora, can be part of this project and make their contribution by donating shoes that will symbolize the footprints of citizens, adults or children, whose lives were taken during the siege of Sarajevo," the Memorial Center/Memorial Fund announced.
