Officers from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) launched a major operation this morning across multiple locations targeting international drug smugglers.

Jelena Miovcic confirmed this information to N1, stating that the operation is related to organized crime and illegal drug trafficking. She added that more information would be available later.

Sources suggest that the operation is targeting Zdravko Sagolj, also known as Piske, a former general of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO). Sagolj is a former high-ranking military official of the HVO and the former commander of the “Herceg Stjepan” brigade.

The operation is international in scope and is being carried out simultaneously in several other countries. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is being conducted under the orders of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

SIPA has issued a press release indicating that this coordinated operation is being conducted under the supervision of EUROPOL. Police officers from the State Investigation and Protection Agency, along with officers from the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia, are conducting searches on the territories of their respective countries, where a significant number of arrests are expected.

The operation, named “General,” is being conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina based on suspicions of criminal offenses including “Organized Crime” and “Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs” as defined by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The suspects are accused of forming an organized group for international drug trafficking, transporting cocaine from South America via maritime routes, and maintaining communication through the encrypted application SKY Ecc for an extended period, all with the aim of gaining illicit financial profit.

The activities are being carried out under the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in cooperation with officers from the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
