According to the official results published by the Central Election Commission (CEC) following a recount of the votes, SNSD candidate and party leader, Milorad Dodik, is the new president of the RS entity.

Kovacevic said that Dodik’s electoral victory was never disputable and that the recount was illegal.

“It was illegal because the decision to do something like that was made in an illegal way, it confirmed the great victory of Milorad Dodik and that the deviations are minimal at the level of statistical error,” said Kovacevic.

Kovacevic strongly criticised the CEC, calling it “a group of amateurs who clearly do not know how to do their job.”

He argued that elections should be organised by BiH’s semi-autonomous entities, rather than by a state-level institution.

“It is evident that we in the RS should consider conducting elections seriously, because we believe that, based on the Constitution of the RS, a lot has been taken away and that we need to return everything (competencies), so the RS should organize on its own elections,” he said.

This should include elections for the RS President, the RS National Assembly and members of the BiH House of Peoples from the entity, he said.
