BiH Presidency member, Milorad Dodik, announced he will work towards the establishment of a separate election commission in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity which would organise elections in the RS in the future.

Bosnia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) had ordered a recount of the ballots in the election of the president of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity due to “irregularities and mathematical illogicalities”.

According to the initial election results, Dodik, who is the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, won the election. However, opposition parties in the RS demanded a recount, arguing that their candidate, Jelena Trivic, from the Party of Democratic Process, was the winner.

Dodik strongly criticised the CEC and his party even submitted a criminal complaint against CEC members over the decision. He accuses the CEC of trying to manipulate the results.

“I think they are deliberately avoiding declaring them (election results), claiming they can't. The recount confirms the preliminary results. CEC is a renegade group, which has no accountability towards the public,” he said.

He announced that the RS National Assembly might soon discuss introducing a law on elections in the entity, so that the process is under the competence of an RS election commission.

Napravit ćemo izbore za Republiku Srpsku, da to bude u nadležnosti enitetske izborne komisije, a ne ova uzurpatoska Centralna izborna komisija koja želi da poništi volju naroda RS-a.

He also commented on the decision of the European Commission to recommend granting EU candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“By granting the candidate status, they are trying to keep a fake High Representative and foreigners in the Constitutional Court,” Dodik said, referring to the international official overseeing the civilian implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as the foreign judges in BiH’s Constitutional Court.

Dodik never accepted the authority of the current High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, as he believes he was not appointed according to the procedure.

“This is the EU’s calculation. It is an offer that is not fair, if a High Representative remains, especially this fake one. If it's an offer, we are not enthusiastic about it,” he stressed.

Dodik also spoke about the counter-protests the SNSD and its political allies are organising in Banjaluka, as a response to the two mass protests organised by RS opposition parties over the RS presidential election.

“I invite the people to Mladen Stojanovic Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to fight for freedom and the possibility to hold free elections,” he said.
