The authorities of Canton 10 greenlighted on Tuesday the construction of one more wind park in the southwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina which abounds in renewable energy resources for electricity supply.
During its session held in Livno, the cantonal seat, the government awarded a 30-year-long concession to the Posusje-based Koncig company for the construction of the “Debelo Brdo” wind park in the municipality of Kupres.
The installed power of the facility is 54 megawatt, and this wind park is expected to generate 120-150 GWh of electricity annually, the cantonal authorities reported.
So far, two wind parks have been built in the territory of this canton in southwest of the country, and their investors are the local power utility companies and the private FEAL company.
The construction of Ivovik wind park near Livno is under way and the investors in this project are the Chinese PowerChina Resources and Genertec companies.
There are plans for the construction of dozens of wind parks in the Herceg-Bosna Canton.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), some data indicate that the cost-effective potential of wind parks in this area is 10,619 megawatt, and potential generation 22,893 GWh, as twice much as the needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina for electricity. Annually, Bosnia and Herzegovina consumes about 12,330 GWh of electricity.
