Spanish artists Ramon Werens and Jonathan Fuller Parralejo have finished painting a mural they named 'The Rose of Sarajevo' on a building in one of the city's central neighbourhoods.
The mural was painted within the second edition of the FASADA festival, with the support of the Spanish Embassy to Sarajevo and the Spanish municipality of Sabadell.
‘The Rose of Sarajevo’ is the third mural painted within this event and represents the continuation of cultural exchange between Bosnia and Spain.
The mural's composition is made of floral motifs that carry different symbols, subtly combining the history and culture of Sarajevo and the traditions of Spain. In addition to the mural, artists Werens and Fullet also drew graffiti that reads Sarajevo/Sabadell at the same location.
Participants in the workshop ‘Street Art: From Basics to Uniqueness’ participated in the creation of this graffiti, which was carried out by Spanish artists in the Children's House.
The painting of ‘The Rose of Sarajevo’ mural also marks the end of the FASADA Festival 2022, which, under the motto ‘we paint, educate, change’, brought a rich artistic, educational and discursive programme.
More than 50 young people had the opportunity to participate in the educational program and learn about the art of murals and graffiti from recognised artists, while more than 30 artists and graffiti artists participated in the implementation of the art programme.
