Srebrenica Memorial Center honours Holocaust Remembrance Day

“Silence in the face of evil is never the answer”, said Emir Suljagic, director of the Memorial Center. He emphasized the responsibility to protect lives and uphold human dignity, especially as the world grapples with ongoing conflicts.

The seventh candle paid tribute to civilian victims in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and elsewhere, highlighting the enduring fight against hatred and injustice. The Memorial Center, a site of remembrance for the Srebrenica genocide, stressed the moral duty to stand with today’s victims.

Suljagic reminded that the Holocaust and Srebrenica are universal lessons, urging humanity to prevent suffering and proclaim "never again" wherever injustice occurs. He also noted the centre’s efforts in interfaith dialogue, advocating for unity and giving voice to the voiceless.

This solemn observance serves as a reminder that the fight against genocide, persecution, and human rights violations remains a global responsibility.
