It is unfortunate that Bosnia’s Prosecutor's Office wanted to take over alleged war crimes cases related to the 1995 Operation Flash in Croatia, while hundreds of war criminals have still not been prosecuted in BiH, the Association of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves said.

The Croatian Justice Ministry said on Sunday that it received an international request from BiH prosecutors asking for the transfer of proceedings against 14 generals of the Croatian Army for involvement in the wartime Operation. BiH is accusing the generals of two criminal offences – war crimes against civilians and violation of the laws or customs of war.

“Priority in BiH should be cases of war crimes committed on the territory of BiH, and not war crimes committed on the territory of another state. We call on the Prosecutor's Office of BiH to focus its energy on the cases marked A by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, which are a priority in the work of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH according to the adopted Strategy for War Crimes Cases,” the Association said.

The Croat member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency and its current Chairman, Zeljko Komsic, said earlier on Monday that there is no legal basis for BiH to take over such cases from Croatia.
