In an open letter, the Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves Association condemned the failure of the state Prosecutor's Office to take action against the President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, over his genocide denial.

“Milorad Dodik again denied the genocide in Srebrenica, a fact determined by the judgments of the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the letter says.

The association said that “it is obvious” that the state-level Prosecutor's Office and state institutions are not applying the law banning genocide denial which was imposed by the former High Representative of the international community in the country, Valentin Inzko. Furthermore, it said that institutions continuously reject complaints from individuals and NGOs related to violations of this law.

“Even after almost two years, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not filed a single indictment for genocide denial. Why are the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina not applying and legally ignoring ‘Inzko’s Law’ is a question for the High Representative, the HJPC (High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council) and the disciplinary prosecutor, and the representatives of international communities who are responsible for the reform of the judicial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the letter says.

The association urged institutions in the country’s Federation (FBiH) entity to initiate an investigation into Dodik since state institutions failed to take action.
