Australian Alexei Popyrin and Dutch Tallon Griekspoor officially opened the Srpska Open tennis tournament on Monday at 11 a.m., the sports event that brought some of the greatest names of the world's tennis to Banja Luka, Bosnia's second largest city and administrative centre of Republika Srpska entity. It is the 1st edition of the event and part of the ATP Tour 250 series of the 2023 ATP Tour.

Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by its best player Damir Dzumhur, who entered the tournament via wildcard alongside Serbia's Hamad Međedovic and France's Gael Monfils.

Other participants include Andrey Rublev, Borna Coric, Richard Gasquet, Stan Wawrinka, etc.

The world number one player, Serbia's Novak Djokovic, is the biggest star of the event on and off the court. He was welcomed by numerous fans at Banja Luka Airport on Sunday.

“I'm happy to be in Banja Luka again, the last time it was eight years ago. This time I am here for tennis, hopefully for the whole week, I hear the interest is great,” he told the local broadcaster RTRS upon arrival.

It appeared that even Djokovic's training session on Monday morning were more popular than official event. During a qualifying match between Alias Ymer and Francesco Maestrelli, the crowd who followed the game suddenly turned to other field once Djokovic started his training session.

The tournament, which takes place from April 17 through April 23 2023 can be followed in countries including the United States, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Columbia, China, Mexico, Denmark, Bulgaria, Portugal, Poland, Turkey, Norway, France, Greece, etc.
