Syrian national wanted by Interpol arrested in Sarajevo after escaping Norwegian prison
Sarajevo Canton Police, in cooperation with the Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, have located and arrested a Syrian national, M.F.A. (born in 2001), who was the subject of an active Interpol warrant issued by NCB Oslo.
The 24-year-old suspect escaped from a Norwegian prison on September 23, 2025, where he had been serving a sentence for the serious criminal offence of rape.
The suspect is currently undergoing criminal processing at the Sarajevo Canton Police Directorate and will subsequently be handed over to an extradition judge of the Court of Bosnia for further legal proceedings.
