Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, announced on Tuesday at the "Invest in Srpska 2024" conference, at Mount Jahorina, that Hungary will take over three projects from which Germany pulled out. These are solar and wind power plant construction projects. However, Szijjarto did not talk about the projects at the start of his address, but about the victory of "friends" of Hungary and Republika Srpska (RS) in elections in several countries around the world, with an emphasis on the latest one - Donald Trump in the US.
He reiterated the words of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, who stated in his address after Trump's victory that from now on “we live in a new reality.”
“In important elections that took place over the past several months, our friends won everywhere – the Freedom Party won in Austria, the President's party in the RS, and Donald Trump in the USA. We could not wish for better results. The forces that stand for peace and patriotism have won everywhere, which means that we have much greater hope that peace will return to Europe. And when peace returns, it will be a period of stability and great economic prosperity. This new situation opens the possibility for Hungary to continue with our responsible neighbourhood policy, and that policy refers to speeding up the European integration of the Western Balkans, and secondly, succeeding in jointly implementing economic development programs. The cooperation between Hungary and the RS is a story of great success,” said Szijjarto.
He stated that around 18,000 farmers “from Bosnia’s RS” received support in the total value of € 26 million through the Hungarian Support Program, and that they bought 4,700 agricultural machines from 57 Hungarian companies.
“It is a successful project for both parties and based on that, we decided to continue with the project and apply it to small businesses. Now we are preparing for Hungarian companies to take over three projects from which German investors withdrew. With Trump's victory, we got a chance for international politics to return to the foundations of mutual respect, and for it to return to the countries of the Western Balkans, too. It’s a good chance to stop the current policy of sanctions and it’s time to have a civilized and cultural dialogue with the elected leaders. The previous strategy, based on threats, did not work and, additionally, called into question the right of local peoples to elect their representatives. Today we’re in a much better situation than a few weeks ago”, Szijjarto concluded.
