Teen injured in Sarajevo tram accident in stable condition, but remains in intensive care
Patient Ella Jovanovic is clinically more stable, but still requires intensive treatment at the Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care, along with the continuation of early rehabilitation, Ismet Gavrankapetanovic, director of Sarajevo's General Hospital 'Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakas' said.
Ella Jovanovic (17) was hospitalized at the General Hospital after sustaining severe injuries in a tram accident that occurred on February 12 in Sarajevo. In the same accident, Erdoan Morankic (23) was killed.
Informal groups of citizens, mostly high school and university students, have for days been gathering in front of the Sarajevo General Hospital building to express support and wish her a speedy recovery.
The accident happened on February 12 when a tram traveling from the direction of the Railway Station entered the intersection near the Technical School at high speed. It subsequently derailed, crashed into a tram stop and struck pedestrians. One person was killed and four others were injured in the incident.
