Tuesday marks the 29th anniversary of the death of 27 Bosniak victims from the village of Liplje, central Bosnia, and the detention of over 400 of them in a concentration camp characterized by the fact that it was comprised of mostly women and under-aged girls.

According to witnesses, Bosnian Serb forces had set up the camp in two houses justifying it by the fear of the “Green Berets,” one of the units from the then Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH).

However, according to the stories of women who were detained in the camp from May 25 to June 2, 1992, criminals raped women and girls, stole jewellery and money, melted plastic on their bodies and beat them.

After a girl escaped through a bathroom window towards the ARBiH and told her experiences, the Army liberated the camp and prisoners in an armed attack.
