Thirty-four years since Sarajevo City Hall fire destroyed its priceless library collection
On the night of August 25–26, 1992, Sarajevo City Hall, then home to the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was shelled and set ablaze. The fire irreversibly destroyed around two million books, journals, articles, manuscripts and other library materials.
