Thirty-third anniversary of Trusina war crimes commemorated near Konjic

Darijana Filipovic, an MP in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the HDZ BiH candidate for the Croat seat in the BiH Presidency, described Trusina as a site of profound reverence and a painful testament to the suffering endured during the conflict.

"Thirty-three years ago, Croat civilians and soldiers were lost here. Their names, etched into the monument before which we pray and light candles, are woven into the fabric of our freedom. It remains our enduring duty to uphold the truth and demand justice within Bosnia and Herzegovina," Filipovic stated. She further emphasised that the prosecution of this and all other crimes is a prerequisite for building a peace founded upon truth.

Friar Darko Drljo, who lost his father, brother, and uncle in the massacre, remarked that all victims deserve equal recognition and that such sites should serve as platforms for messages of peace.

"These remain difficult days. Every victim and every perpetrator has a name. We must recognise that evil invariably causes immense harm, and those of us who survived must ensure such atrocities are never repeated elsewhere," Friar Drljo noted. He added that while the victims cannot be returned, survivors can contribute to a more humane treatment of all victims and foster better coexistence within the region.
