Thousands of reports flood Bosnia Prosecutor's office over Ratko Mladic glorification

Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) in BiH Executive Director Denis Dzidic told DW that the core issue lies in enforcement rather than the legal framework itself. While a vast number of reports target genocide denial and the praise of convicted war criminals, the number of indictments remains very low, despite their intended deterrent effect.

Although the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously handed down prison sentences to individuals like Miodrag Malic and Vojin Pavlovic for glorifying Mladic and Radovan Karadzic, public figures such as Milorad Dodik and Stasa Kosarac now face criminal reports for similar post-mortem statements, DW reports.

Sanctions have also materialized locally, resulting in a Tomislavgrad health center doctor losing her job, the termination of a surgeon's contract at the Orasje Cantonal Hospital, and the dismissal of a young goalkeeper from the Sarajevo Football Academy due to online praise for the war criminal.
