Three persons charged with human trafficking from Bosnia into EU

Bosnian Prosecutor's Office issued indictment against three persons under suspicion of human trafficking from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union.

The three suspects include Irani national Baban Mohammed Kareem, Turkish national Onen Ilhan and the national of Bosnia and Herzegovina Emir Njemcevic.

They are charged with organising, preparing, arranging and carrying out of the human trafficking of a larger number of citizens of Turkey of different age, including minors, during 2023, in return for significant sums of money.

The persons of question were staying mostly in the Sarajevo area and then transported to the northwest of the country, in the Bihac and Velika Kladusa areas, from where they were smuggled to the territory of the Republic of Croatia and further into the EU for the amount between 2,500 to 19,500 euro.

Police found more than 500 personal documents issued by the Turkish authorities during the raid of the facilities used by the suspects.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the confirmation.
