Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency Chairman and the country’s House of Representatives Speaker sent letters of support to their counterparts in the United States in light of the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, stressing that BiH stands with the US in the fight against terrorism.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States share decades of friendship and partnership,” said the letter the current Chairman and Croat member of the BiH Presidency, Zeljko Komsic, sent to US President, Joe Biden.

Komsic added that the anniversary of September 11 terrorist attacks “is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the just fight for the truth and the punishment of criminals.”

“The terrorist attack in the United States was an attack on a democratic society that stands for peace, freedom, security and prosperity. On behalf of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on my own behalf, I extend my words of support to you and the people of the United States on this very important date. We stand firmly with our friends!” Komsic’s letter said.

BiH House of Representatives Speaker, Denis Zvidic, wrote to the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, expressing his condolences on the anniversary of one of the most horrific terrorist attacks the world has ever seen.

He stressed that “terrorism has become a global threat” and we can only respond to that challenge together.

“We in Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose citizens have been exposed to terrible suffering in the recent past, understand and share the sympathies for the families of the victims of the terrorist attack. I assure you that in the fight against terrorism and all forms of extremism, appreciating our long and sincere friendship, with full reverence and sincere compassion for all the people who died in this tragedy, we stand firmly with the United States,” Zvizdic’s letter said.
