Two additional patients who suffered injuries in the Tuzla Retirement Home fire have died in the past 24 hours at the University Clinical Center Tuzla (UKC), the hospital confirmed on Tuesday.
According to UKC Tuzla, both women had been hospitalized at the Clinic for Anesthesiology and Resuscitation following the blaze. Medical teams were treating them for severe injuries sustained during the incident.
UKC officials added that two other patients remain hospitalized at the Clinic for Internal Medicine, where they continue to receive care.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton announced that orders will be issued Tuesday to conduct autopsies on the bodies of the deceased residents of the Tuzla Retirement Home as part of the ongoing investigation.
A total of 17 people have now died as a result of the fire and the injuries they sustained in the incident at the retirement home.
