Spokesperson Tammy Bruce posted on X that the U.S. State Department supports the first-instance verdict against the President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik.
“We acknowledge the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina's verdict today concerning Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik”, she wrote.
“The United States has invested for decades in a stable Bosnia and Herzegovina. We firmly oppose any actions by local leaders that would undermine security and stability. We support Dayton and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, she added.
In a first-instance ruling on Wednesday, Dodik was found guilty of non-compliance with the decisions of the High Representative of the international community in the country. He was sentenced to one year in prison and banned from serving as RS president for the next six years.
