Sir Stuart Peach, the UK special envoy for the Western Balkans, commented on the sanctions that his country introduced for Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency Milorad Dodik and President of Serb-majority region Republika Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic, saying that such decision was “important and necessary.”

According to a Facebook post with Sir Peach's message, published by the British Embassy in Sarajevo in local languages, “these persons are on a dangerous path that harms the stability and legal order in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

The sooner a turn is made on that path, the better for the citizens of BiH, the message said.

UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced the sanctions against Dodik and Cvijanovic on Monday, for “undermining of the legitimacy ad functionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

UK Ambassador in Sarajevo Matt Field clarified that the new measures are not directed against the citizens of Republika Srpska but against individuals.
