All member states of the Council voted in favor of the extension, including Russia, which in previous years had questioned the continuation of the mission.
Moscow did not exercise its veto power - a move that had been previously announced by Milorad Dodik following his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Russia indicated that the position of Republika Srpska on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina would be presented through a report by the Russian ambassador to the UN, prepared by the Government of Republika Srpska as a response to the report of High Representative Christian Schmidt.

The UN Security Council is discussing both reports following the adoption of the resolution extending the Althea mission’s mandate.
