US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael Murphy paid tribute to the victims of the Jasenovac concentration camp as well as to all the victims of Nazism and fascism in the Second World War, calling on political leaders to "make a serious commitment" to acknowledge the past, accept the facts, and respect and honour victims.
Ambassador Murphy noted his video message that precisely in this concentration camp, one of the ten largest in Europe during the Second World War, Ustasha forces of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) killed innocent Serbs, Roma, Jews, Muslims and others.
He recalled the horrible conditions in the camp noting that prisoners received minimal amounts of food and that accommodation was completely inhumane.
Murphy added that the world remembers and honours all those who died in Jasenovac and all the victims of Nazism and fascism in the Second World War.
