The Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry is set to receive its first multi-mission helicopter, marking a significant milestone in the region's civil security and emergency response capabilities. The aircraft, a Subaru Bell 412EPX, was manufactured at the Bell Textron Inc. facility in Piney Flats, Tennessee, and has officially completed its production phase.
A delegation from Sarajevo Canton recently visited the Tennessee facility to inspect the aircraft, which is designed to meet high American safety and engineering standards. According to a statement from the US Embassy in Sarajevo, the helicopter is equipped for diverse operations where rapid response is vital, including:
Search-and-rescue operations in difficult terrain, firefighting support and police missions, Critical medical evacuations (MEDEVAC).
The procurement of the helicopter, valued at approximately 30,340,000 Bosnian marks (approximately € 15,512,654) excluding VAT, represents the largest material resource in the history of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior. The aircraft is currently undergoing final inspections and is expected to be transported via Prague before arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming months.
The US Embassy highlighted the delivery as a "concrete example" of how American technology and exports support high-skilled jobs in the United States while strengthening the security of partner communities abroad. Under the administration of the incumbent US President, this partnership aims to foster a more secure and prosperous environment through world-class engineering and shared safety goals.
