US donates firearm safes to Bosnia’s Service for Foreigners’ Affairs

The US Government has donated specialised equipment to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, aimed at improving the safe storage of firearms within the institution.

The handover ceremony took place at the Service’s headquarters, where representatives of the US Embassy in Sarajevo delivered 192 personal firearm safes, 85 large and 107 small, valued at approximately $9,400. The donation was made through the US Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP).
US Embassy officials in attendance included Tyler Truby, Regional Attaché for Counterterrorism; Michael Hall, Regional Counterterrorism Advisor; and Darko Ivic, Senior Project Specialist. Representing the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs were Director Zarko Laketa and Head of the Administration Sector Edin Huskic.
Director Laketa thanked the US Government for the donation, highlighting that the new equipment will raise security standards by allowing for the secure and proper storage of firearms in line with legal requirements and international safety protocols.

In a statement following the event, the Service announced it would continue investing in modernisation efforts and strengthening cooperation with international institutions to further enhance its operational capacity.
