A formal handover ceremony was held last week at the Rajlovac military barracks near Sarajevo, marking the delivery of cutting-edge IT equipment from the United States Government to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces. The donation, arranged through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme, is designed to bolster the country’s public affairs operations.

The new equipment package comprises high-performance computers, software tools, cameras, video recorders, printers, audiovisual systems, and related accessories. It will be distributed across various Ministry and Armed Forces units to modernise technical infrastructure and streamline public communications.

According to officials, the donation aims to improve the speed and accuracy of public information efforts, ultimately enhancing transparency and public trust in Bosnia’s defence sector.

This latest contribution continues Washington’s longstanding support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defence institutions, particularly in strengthening their operational and institutional capacities. The Ministry underscored that modernising public affairs capabilities within the Operational Command and Support Command structures is vital for timely, accurate, and professional communication, considered a cornerstone of credibility and trust in a democratic society.

Zoran Sajinovic, Assistant Minister of Defence for International Cooperation, welcomed the donation and praised the ongoing partnership with the United States. “This modern equipment will significantly elevate our public affairs efforts and improve coordination across the entire defence system,” he said.

Brigadier Nermin Lapandic, Chief of the Support Department of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH, also extended gratitude to the US Embassy in Sarajevo. He acknowledged the critical role such support plays in advancing a stable and just society, adding that the equipment would empower the Media-Information Centre in its mission of responsible public engagement.

Valued at $455,000, the donation was ceremonially handed over inside a helicopter maintenance hangar—another facility previously provided to the Armed Forces of BiH under the same FMS framework. The event was attended by senior representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces, and the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defence Cooperation.

The gesture not only strengthens the operational reach of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s military communications but also reinforces the strategic partnership between Sarajevo and Washington in the realm of defence and institutional development.
