There is no constitutional way in which one Bosnian entity could unilaterally withdraw from state institutions, US Embassy to Bosnia told N1 Wednesday commenting on Bosnian Serb Presidency member Milorad Dodik’s announcement that the Republika Srpska entity will withdraw from agreements on state judiciary, army, taxation authority and ban the state-level special forces from operating in that entity.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country with two entities and the Brcko District. Its further development based on the Dayton Peace Agreement is the best guarantee for its safety and the path to prosperity for all in both of its entities and the Brcko District. Attempts to divert the citizens’ attention from the issue of corruption which holds them back and neglect in the implementation of reforms necessary the creation of better economic conditions is an irresponsible leadership,” the Embassy said.

They noted they plan to continue supporting all political leaders and citizens rising above the rhetoric of division, working to build trust and create a safer and more prosperous country for all.

“The proposals reversing the peace and progress accomplished over the past 26 years will only lead to isolation and economic demise. The US are ready to use all available sanctions against those undermining or facilitating others to undermine the Dayton Peace Agreement but they are not a substitution for the responsibility of all BiH leaders to reject destabilizing actions, and instead work on improving the functionality of the country through state institutions,” the US Embassy to Bosnia told N1.

Milorad Dodik said on Tuesday that his party, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) would discuss the program of the RS’ autonomy within BiH adding that the “consents on the formation of the Armed Forces of BiH will be withdrawn, and the laws on the Court and Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the Indirect Taxation Authority, State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA) will be declared null and void, after which the Republika Srpska should form its own intelligence structure.”
