US Embassy hands over refurbished patrol vessel to BiH Border Police in Neum

The US Embassy said the assistance was funded by the US State Department's Bureau of Counterterrorism and implemented through the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP).

"The US Embassy in BiH is proud to have handed over a newly repaired patrol vessel to the Border Police in Neum," the Embassy said in a post on X.

The Embassy highlighted that the support will further strengthen the partnership between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina in combating transnational crime and terrorism and responding to security threats along the border.

The BiH Border Police will thus have additional capacity to monitor Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territorial waters and operate at the country’s only access point to the Adriatic Sea.

ICITAP operates within the Criminal Division of the US Department of Justice and provides assistance to partner countries in strengthening their law enforcement and security capacities, including in the areas of border and maritime security.

The United States has for years supported the BiH Border Police through equipment, professional training and the development of law enforcement capacities.
