Zeljko Komsic, the new/old BiH Presidency member told the Federation entity public broadcaster FTV that US Embassy is lobbying to oust the Democratic Action Party (SDA) power, without specifying the level at which they do not want to see the strongest Bosniak, ethnic-oriented party.

“The fact is that the Americans are openly pushing to oust the SDA from power. That's what Nermin Niksic (the leader of the Social Democratic Party – SDP) and Semir Efendic (the leader of the Party For BiH – SBiH) told me. I'm telling this to you as they told me since I didn't talk to the American Ambassador and that's what was required of them,” Komsic said for FTV.

Asked about the election results for the President of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity that were finally published today, after the election watchdog did a complete recount for all levels of government following allegations of election fraud, he said that everything indicated that Milorad Dodik, the leader of the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) was the winner of the election.

“[Knowing] the result of the SNSD, the result of Zeljka Cvijanovic (SNSD candidate for BiH Presidency member), it was simply difficult [to imagine] that Dodik's result didn’t follow these results. I think it was to be expected that he would emerge from this story as the verified winner of the elections in the RS.”

When asked if there is a difference between the opposition and the Government in the RS when it comes to the view of the state, he answered:

“There is no significant difference. We all know that basic political goals of both political groups in the RS are the same. At one time, this group, which is now the opposition, was far more aggressive in its views. As it switched to the opposition, it became milder, but they never gave up on their main political goals. In the beginning, Dodik came as a big change, a big refreshment, and then he transformed into the person he is today. He is even worse in some statements than those who are the opposition today. I don't see any significant difference in basic political ideas and attitudes. Perhaps the difference is that the opposition is currently less aggressive in presenting these main political goals [secession of the RS entity].”

Efendic denies these claims

Moments after Komsic's interview was published on the FTV web portal, Efendic wrote on his Facebook profile that the US embassy never asked anything of the sort.

“Nobody is asking anything of me, especially not the Americans. But if someone thinks that I and the SBiH will help the SDA to continue working as it has been working so far – I won't,” Efendic wrote.
