US Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly condemned the statement by Milorad Dodik, the President of Bosnia's Serb-majority entity, who used an offensive local proverb to comment on foreign minister's remark regarding the award that Dodik recently gave to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The embassy assessed Dodik's behaviour as “inappropriate and misogynistic.”
“One day Milorad Dodik says he wants a “peaceful, respected RS,” and the next he suggests that the proper response to a political disagreement with the BiH Foreign Minister is to slap her. His reference to violence against women was inappropriate and misogynistic,” the embassy said.
It has also warned that it reflects “poorly on the RS that its President relies on this kind of oafish behavior to make an argument and respond to critics.”
Dodik suggests a saying about getting slapped was made for BiH Foreign Minister
Commenting on Dodik's awarding of Putin ahead of the unconstitutional holiday of the Day of RS on January 9, foreign minister Bisera Turkovic said it was an “an affront to human decency, showing a growing Russian malign influence in the region.”
Dodik promptly reacted, using a local proverb and saying that “her every statement deserves a slap,” adding that this saying was created for Turkovic herself.
