The United States is prepared to do “whatever it takes” to make sure Bosnia and Herzegovina succeeds, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar, said in a message to the citizens of BiH.
Escobar arrived in Bosnia on Sunday to meet with the country’s officials amid the major political crisis in the country.
“As I finish the first part of my trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina, I want to say to the people – thank you very much for this warm welcome,” Escobar began his message to the people of BiH.
The US envoy said he has seen “tremendous progress” in Bosnia in the past 20 years and that the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement is “still a very important part” of US foreign policy.
“We offer our partnership, our security guarantees, our development assistance and our pledge to help make this an economically viable country. We’re willing to work through dialogue, but if necessary we’re willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that this country succeeds,” he said.
“I hope that in the next part of my visit I can bring some more progress to this region, and I hope to see the people of this country again very often and very soon,” his message concluded.
