US special envoy for Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar and Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried will pay a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina within their five-day Western Balkans tour starting Monday.
Escobar and Donfried will first arrive in Pristina, then go to Belgrade a day later, followed by visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro in the upcoming days. Their last destination will be Podgorica, Montenegro.
According to a State Department statement, the officials will encourage Bosnian officials to resume the participation in the institutions at all levels of authority, in order to improve their functionality and reforms towards a better prosperity and for the country to be granted the status of EU candidate.
Donfried will call for timely elections, as scheduled, in October this year.
