US Special Envoy condemns Sarajevo conference cancellation, citing Antisemitism concerns

The US Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism has voiced deep concern over the cancellation of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER), which was scheduled to take place in Sarajevo from June 16 to 18.
In a message shared on social media, the envoy stressed that “antisemitism must not be tolerated” and reaffirmed the United States’ ongoing commitment to safeguarding Jewish life around the world.
We are deeply alarmed by the cancellation of an @europeanrabbis convening in Sarajevo. Antisemitism cannot be tolerated, and the United States will continue to call for the safeguarding of Jewish life globally.

The conference was cancelled by Swissotel Sarajevo, citing security concerns following public pressure from several political figures who argued that the gathering was inappropriate amid Israeli military operations in Gaza. Among those opposing the event were FBiH Minister Adnan Delic and former Grand Mufti Mustafa Ceric.
CER organisers condemned the cancellation as a “shameful act of antisemitism” and relocated the conference to Munich. The European Commission also expressed regret over the incident, emphasising that freedom of religion and assembly are fundamental European values.
