The Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez, welcomed Brigadier Erik R. Adams, the United States military attaché, during a formal visit aimed at bolstering defence collaboration between the two nations.

Discussions during the meeting focused on several key issues, including ongoing defence reforms led by the Ministry of Defense (MoD BiH), regional and global security challenges, enhancing recruitment efforts within the Armed Forces of BiH, and future steps to strengthen military capabilities.

Minister Helez highlighted the importance of the meeting, noting that Bosnia is navigating a critical juncture in its foreign policy and domestic affairs. “This period is pivotal for our country's security and its integration into broader international frameworks,” Helez said.

Brigadier Adams praised the Ministry's efforts, particularly emphasizing Minister Helez's leadership in securing funding for the acquisition of six state-of-the-art US-made helicopters. He noted that these advancements in modernization have positioned Bosnia to receive increased support from international allies.

“The investments in modernizing the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and improving conditions for its members are commendable,” Adams stated. “These efforts ensure that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains a strong and reliable partner.”

Reaffirming US support, Brigadier Adams underscored the United States’ commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multiethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He warned that any attempts to destabilize or undermine the security of the nation would face strong opposition.

Both parties agreed to intensify defence cooperation through significant projects, including joint training and exercises, educational programs, and enhanced support for equipping and modernizing the Armed Forces of BiH.

The Ministry issued a statement emphasizing that these collaborative efforts aim to further professionalize the Armed Forces, ensuring their readiness to address contemporary security challenges.
