After the last European Council session, Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi invited the political leaders of the ruling coalition (Dragan Covic from the Croat Democratic Union - HDZ, Milorad Dodik from the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats - SNSD and Bakir Izetbegovic from the Democratic Action Party - SDA) in Bosnia to separate meetings in Brussels on Wednesday, July 6, the Enlargement Commissioner’s office confirmed for N1, Tuesday.
“The meetings come after the European Council where EU leaders confirmed their readiness to grant Bosnia and Herzegovina the status of a candidate country, and to that end, they call on the Commission to report to the Council without delay on the implementation of the 14 key priorities listed in its Opinion, with special attention to those that represent a significant set of reforms in order for the European Council to return to decide on this issue,” Commissioner Varhelyi's office told N1.
The meetings will be an opportunity to discuss the next steps on Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU path, after the discussion among EU leaders at the European Council on June 23.
