She was accompanied by Munira Subasic, president of the “Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves” association; Emir Suljagic, director of the Memorial Centre; Luigi Soreca, head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina; and Hamdija Fejzic, chairman of the Centre’s Management Board. Together, they paid tribute to the victims of the genocide.

Von der Leyen’s visit symbolically reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to preserving the memory of the Srebrenica genocide, protecting human rights, and promoting reconciliation across the region.

Later on Tuesday, the European Commission President is scheduled to meet in Sarajevo with members of Bosnia's Presidency and with the Chair of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Kristo.
