Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic has arrived in Banja Luka where he will meet with the president of BiH's Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, who was sentenced on Wednesday to a year in prison and was banned from serving the post for the next six years in a first-instance ruling by the BiH Court.

Vucic was welcomed at the airport by RS Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic.

Earlier, while still on the plane, Vucic described the verdict against Milorad Dodik as shameful.

"I am going to Banja Luka after the shameful verdict against Milorad Dodik—an unlawful, anti-democratic ruling aimed at dismantling Republika Srpska and undermining the position of the Serb people," he said.
He emphasized that he is there to offer support.

"That is why we are going to Banja Luka tonight—to provide support when our people need it the most, to try to ensure that the decisions being made ultimately lead to calming the situation and reducing tensions. I have no doubt that we, as a people, will preserve our living space, that Republika Srpska and its president will be defended, and that Serbia will continue to move forward," he added.
