The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Vulin will attend the celebration of the baptism of the Municipality of Pale, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was welcomed by delegations from the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, including politicians from both the ruling and opposition parties. In a statement from Vulin's office, it was stated that Bosnia’s Foreign Ministry did not allow Vulin and his delegation to fly into the country.

The announcement also states that Vulin will be the godfather of the Pale baptism and that as part of the visit, he will pay tribute to the killed soldiers of the RS Army.

Billboards welcoming Vulin with the inscription: “Welcome godfather” were placed in Pale.

Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister, who is known for his controversial statements and interference in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said before the ceremony that he was honoured to be the godfather.

“The borders between the Serbs are as we set them ourselves. I look forward to every opportunity to be with my people. It is with sincere pleasure and a sense of pride that I accept the invitation of Skipina,” he said.

Vulin’s office stated that “even though the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, the Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Serbia duly submitted all the necessary information and accompanying documentation, and even stated the purpose of the visit, the Federation (FBiH) entity authorities did not give consent for the overflight. Our embassy complied on time via all the necessary diplomatic procedures, but despite this, the FBiH authorities did not respond to the request. BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Elmedin Konakovic, once again did not grant a flight permit to Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin.”
