At the invitation of the Gorazde Association of Concentration Camp Detainees, a group of war veterans from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, former members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH), the Croatian Defense Council (HVO), the Army of the Republika Srpska (VRS), the Croatian Army (HV) and the Yugoslavia Army (VJ) and peace activists from the region, organized by the Center for Nonviolent Action, attended the commemoration of the killed civilians in Lozje near Gorazde.

In the attack by the Republika Srpska Army units on May 22, 1992, on the village of Lozje (Kokino Selo) near Gorazde, some 40 people were killed, mostly civilians, elderly people and children.

“For the first time ever, we have members of different armies from the wars in the territory of the former Yugoslavia at the commemoration in Lozje. The message that is being sent from here is not only a message to our local community, but it should reach far more widely. Reconciliation must start from somewhere. You have to tell the truth, it's painful, but it makes you move. When people see how it was here today, which people came, the message of peace is conveyed,” said Muhamed Heco, the president of the Goratde Association of Detainees.

In addition to the representatives of the victims’ families, the Prime Minister of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton, Edin Culov, the Mayor of Gorazde, Ernest Imamovic, and the mufti of Gorazde, Remzija Pitic addressed those present in Lozje. The addresses emphasized the importance of prosecuting those responsible for this crime, but also the need for additional involvement of everyone in finding the bodies of those killed that have not been found and identified to date.
