The website of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), one of the main opposition pirates in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, was shut down because the party was blacklisted by the United States.

The SDS said it was notified by the Arizona-based provider GoDaddy that the account is now “permanently closed” and is “not eligible for reinstatement, transfers or refunds”.

An email sent to the party said that the US does not permit GoDaddy or its affiliates “to conduct business with a resident or business listed on economic and trade sanctions lists.”

“Your account has been reviewed by our verification office and determined to match a resident listed on government sanctions lists,” the email said.

Thus, the domains sdsrs.com and sdsrs.net, which SDS has been using since 2007, have been shut down.

The party said it already registered the domain sds.rs (Serbia’s domain) adding that it is “more adequate anyway”.

SDS leader, Milan Milicevic, complained that this happened without prior warning, and pointed out that the SDS has been on the US blacklist since 2004.

“Neither the previous one nor the SDS of today were good enough for the foreigners,” he said, arguing that the move represents a way to “pressure” the party.
